Dying Matters Week – We need to talk about death, why do we find it so difficult?

May 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

FREE

Retired Consultant in Palliative Care Medicine, Dr Andy Fowell will be joining us at Theatr Twm o’r Nant to discuss why as a population we struggle to open up and talk about death, one inevitable of life that we could and should be able to talk about more freely.

To book your free place contact Kath or Jayne on 01745 585221

Andy Fowell completed his medical course in Leeds, general practice training in North Wales (climbing) and was a partner in a small rural practice in North Yorkshire for 12 years. While recuperating from a fractured foot (paragliding) he saw an advert for a medical assistant post at Teeside Hospice. A change of career followed and a move back to North Wales to take up a post as consultant in Palliative Medicine in Bangor covering Snowdonia and Anglesey (sailing). He retired in 2013 (cycling and rowing) but continues to teach communication skills with the diploma of palliative medicine at Cardiff University. He has also taught in Australia, Hong Kong, India and Pakistan. A trustee of the MND Association for three years he continues to be a member of their care and research committees.
