Sportsman’s Evening | with Nigel Owens MBE & Rupert Moon
May 15 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm£45
We are delighted to announce a special Sportsman’s Evening with Welsh International rugby union referee Nigel Owens MBE. The event in support of St Kentigern Hospice will be held at the Springfield Hotel & Health Club on Wednesday 15 May 2019. Your host for the night will be former Welsh international rugby union player, Rupert Moon.
Nigel was appointed as an international referee in 2005, and that year officiated at his first international between Ireland and Japan in Osaka. Nigel made his World Cup debut in 2007, and has recently refereed the Rugby World Cup 2015 Final at Twickenham – one of his proudest moments.
He is one of only two referees to be appointed to referee two consecutive Heineken Cup finals: Munster v Toulouse at the Millennium Stadium in 2008; and Leicester Tigers v Leinster in 2009. He has since done a third final at Twickenham (2012), this as well as two European Challenge Cup finals makes a total of five European finals, making him the most capped referee in European competition.
He is also known as a TV personality, as one of the presenters of the S4C chat shows Jonathan and Bwrw’r Bar. Nigel also hosts his own quiz programme Munud i Fynd.
Rupert is a former Wales international rugby union player. He played club rugby for Welsh clubs Abertillery and Neath but is most associated with Llanelli, who he captained during their unprecedented triple success season of 1992 when they won the League and Cup, and beat then Rugby World Cup Champions Australia. He played international rugby for Wales at scrum half, winning 24 caps.
The evening will commence at 7.30pm and will include a sumptuous one course dinner, charitable raffle and auction.
Tickets are £45 each.
